Did you know that today is the (unofficial) National Sibling Day? Don't feel bad neither did I. A good friend had once sent me a link to unusual unofficial national days and other celebrations. From time to time I'll share them with you. Some will be food for thought, some will come with a challenge (and prize) while others will come with freebies :)
I am the oldest of 3 girls in my family, and now I have 2 little girls of my own. I'm the first to admit that I don't stay in touch as much as I should with my sisters. Get to caught up in the every day business of life and all to often I forget to pick up the phone and call them. I need to remember to talk to them more, even just to say Hello, how was your day? They love to hear stories about their 2 nieces and how fast they are growing up. I think part of my procrastination is due to Facebook. Many times I'll say to myself, I'll just update my status... they can see it on the computer.
My 2 girls are just beginning their journey as siblings. Azure-lee turning 4 in July and Jessalyn just turned 1 the end of last month. The bond they share is amazing, I hope and pray every day that the bond they share will last as they grow up. Azure-lee is so proud to be a big sister and loves to read Jessalyn stories, sing her songs and make her laugh. Jessalyn adores her big sister, even if she's fussy and cranky, soon as she sees Azure-lee she can't help but to smile and want to play.
So today I challenge you to call your brother or sister, appreciate the bond your children have with each other, and if you don't have a sibling or children think of that one person in your life that you are the closest to and let them know how much you appreciate them. Don't just send a message on Facebook, pick up the phone and talk to them.
And if you are so inclined you can even scrap a layout about your sibling/children.
Here is a photo of my 2 girls.... this sums up their personalities quite nicely.
